    About Me

I am updating my profile for the first time in years, so now that I'm married, I can no longer be Bonnie M! One of my main interests Ayurveda, which is the name for ancient Indian medical science. For me, a significant part of taking care of the whole person is eating the right foods -- foods that we love *and* that treat our bodies well. Now I have a three year old in tow, so even more reason to prepare healthy, delicious, and simple foods!

    Favorite Foods

I love to cook with vegetarian whole foods. My specialty is Indian food. I am interested in Ayurvedic medicine, which has a lot to say about food. The vata dosha predominates in my constitution, which is reflected in what I cook. Vata dosha consists of Air and Space, which must be counteracted with the elements of Earth, Fire and Water. The tastes that contain these elements are sour, sweet, and salty. Vata food should be well-oiled, well-spiced, and well-cooked. We vatas also luxuriate in dairy products and sweets, as long as no refined sugar is used!

Here is a little quiz I created that helps you determine your Ayurvedic dosha:
