My name: Batik is a fabric from Indonesia where my grandmother was born. My grandfather was a Dutchman (windmills) and by religion, I am a Muslim (I guess we are known for turbans). I am also a chaplain and expecting our first child in September.
I find cooking and baking to be calming and confidence-building. It's great knowing you can start out with a bunch of ingredients and wind up with a beautiful dish. I like to impress my husband. He says I am a good cook, not so good at cleaning. I'd have to agree that I hate doing dishes!
Indonesian!
Chocolate! (any kind, just don't adulterate it with mint)
Arabic! (though time-consuming, so I rarely make them)
Good old American foods--BBQ, corn on the cob, macaroni salad, pie, etc.!
