Reviewed The Great Australian Pikelets
"I have made pikelets before but these were wonderful. Sweet, fluffy small pancakes which were eaten warm as they didn;t get enough time to cool. My kids put nutella on them, my husband put peanut butter and honey and I put some sliced cheese on mine while they were still cooking for a melted cheesy version. All delicious!"

Reviewed Really Good Vegetarian Meatloaf (Really!)
"I read a lot of reviews and then looked at the photos of the recipe. I then miraculously managed to make this recipe exactly as I wanted it and looking like Jenny Sanders; photo. I used raw lentils and boiled them for 45 minutes until they were soft enough, I chopped my oats in a small chopper so that they were smaller pieces as they were not ..."

Reviewed Lemon Yogurt Cupcakes
"Heavenly and as good as, if not better than the muffins you buy in cafes. I increased the lemon zest slightly and the juice as I didn;t have extract. I used strained Greek yoghurt and added 2/3 cup of fresh blueberries at the end. The muffins had a very light almost crumbly texture and tasted absolutely wonderful. Thank you for posting."

Reviewed Chocolate Brownie Cupcakes
"This recipe was wonderful. It was simple to beat the sugar with the melted butter (without the need to dirty anything electrical) and the taste of the batter was the most delicious thing I have ever had. I had to force myself to actually bake this into cupcakes as I just wanted to spread the lovely fudgy batter onto bread and eat it! I cut back the..."

I have always loved cooking and I really like trying different flavours and cuisines. I am a devoted chocoholic, cheesecake and cupcake fanatic although I enjoy making savoury dishes as well.
I love reading and love Jane Austen and science fiction of all types.
My biggest peeve is that here on Recipezaar, a great number of recipes use canned, processed or packaged foods. While I appreciate the need for short cuts as much as any working mother, I am always disappointed when a promising recipe turns out to be a clever mix of tinned and pre-packaged products. I believe they are extremely unhealthy and contain all manner of preservatives and sugars. So I would encourage all novice chefs to cook from scratch as the flavours are unparalleled.
I would also like to note that I never leave a rating lower than 3 stars. If something doesn't work, I prefer to leave comments especially if I have had to make substitutions. So for me:
3 stars is a good recipe which may be easy to prepare or a variation made with some shortcuts. Enjoyable to eat but probably wouldn't make again unless tweaked.
4 stars for me is a really great recipe without any major changes. A solid recipe which I would remake happily.
5 stars is a fabulous recipe which I consider outstanding in its category. No changes needed, perfect as it is.
Anything I have rated 6 stars or more (in my comments) means something I will tell everybody about, definitely make at my next dinner party and force everyone to try no matter how conservative in their food tastes. ![]()
My favourite foods are 'pastitsio', moussaka, stuffed peppers, marinated octopus and freshly-caught fish cooked over hot coals.
My favourite desserts are chocolate layer cake, chocolate fudge cake, pavlova, my sister's cherry topped chilled cheesecake, chocolate truffles and 'ekmek kataifi'.
