    About Me

I'm a 57 year old, very happily retired high school librarian and the mother of one son who is in Culinary school at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT. My husband has been in the Maryland Army Ntl. Guard for almost 40 years and will be retiring at the end of this year. All three of us are "avid" cooks and truly enjoy savoring foods of all kinds. Personally, I enjoy good old "home cookin" which I was raised on. With lots of German/English heritage "meat and potatoes" were a staple in our home. My husband brought Polish cusine to our marriage and now our son is really expanding our knowledge of food!! He has done his first internship at a ski resort in Montana and the Chef (instructor) there specializes in BIG GAME - I must admit that the bison was fabulous. For fun I like to do gardening, volunteer for Meals on Wheels, tinker with photography, have several miniature collections - i.e. tiny pottery, oil lamps, furniture, and love decorating our home in "country primitives" of all kinds. I would love to have the time to spend a month at the beach in the summer and a month in the mountains in the Fall and stay there another month when the snow came.

    Favorite Foods

Again, my favorite foods would have to be the good old "homey comfort foods" - soups, stews, pot roasts, chicken and dumplings (Eastern Shore of MD. style - flat, slick dumpings) and I really have a WEAKNESS for cakes, cookies and pies - all homemade of course! My favorite restaurants are the "MOM & POP" restaurants that use to dot our towns and cities and back roads before they were replaced with all of the National chains that are EVERYWHERE today that do not carry "local" foods of the areas they're in.
