    My Journal

I have no recent activity to share.

    About Me

I am an active lady, and I am not the top chef in the world, but I can hold my own. I love making things that remind me of when I was little, I love trying out new recipes, and I love learning new things to cook. Most of the recipes I post are recipes I loved that I found online, but that I have tweaked just a bit. I do have some family recipes on here too, though.

I am not a fan of other people being in the kitchen when I'm making something. However, I really do like when someone shows me how to do or make something that I didn't know how to do or make before. I love to bake, probably more than anything else in the kitchen. I would've gone to culinary school to be a pastry chef if I didn't have the job I do now.

I had never heard of this website until family members told me about it and once I saw it, I just knew I had to sign up! Whenever I wonder, "what should we have for dinner, a side..etc.?", I turn to this site. Besides various food blogs that I frequently read, it's the best online collection of recipes I have found.

I love to bike ride. I like to read, travel, kayak (I've only been twice, but I loved it), hike, camp, basically any outdoorsy stuff. I also like to make cards (birthday/thank you..etc) with scrapbooking stuff, hang out with friends, watch movies, and exercise.

    Favorite Foods

I love cheesecake! I also like Indian and Middle Eastern food. I really like fondu and BBQs (cookouts) and comfort foods (mac and cheese, chicken and dumplings, chili...etc.), and I also like most Mexican, Mediterranean, Chinese, and Italian food. As long as it's not some weird stuff that I can't recognize, I'm not too picky.

It would actually probably be easier to say what I don't like, which mainly consists of celery, lima beans, and water chestnuts. YUCKY!!!!!!!!!

    *How I rate recipes:*
Since I peruse recipes and find ones that I think my friends and family will like, I rarely give a low rating. You will notice that most all my ratings are 4 and 5 stars. I can pretty much look at a recipe and tell if we will like it.

Therefore, this process involves big gray areas for me... Sometimes recipes are super good, sometimes I make a few modifications (either to make it healthier, or because I don't have a particular ingredient), and sometimes I feel like I would rate it higher but didn't because no one liked it or it just didn't work. I know - I'm weird. So here it is:

***** - You are the divine entity of this particular recipe. I will DEFINITELY make this again and throw all other references to this particular dish that I currently possess in the paper shredder.

**** - The recipe was a great idea, and I probably used it as a base, making a bunch of tweaks (enough to maybe post the recipe as my own, but I would never do that). Therefore, my 4-star reviews tend to be novel-like with all the changes, often boring people before they get to the end (probably much like the explanation about how I rate recipes). LOL... I still would make again - keeping my personal changes.

*** - I probably either didn't know what to expect or this recipe wasn't really to my/my family's/our friends' liking. This is the lowest I go. To me, 3 stars says, "Thank you for the idea, but this is a recipe I probably would not make again."

** and * - Well, these are too low for me and I don't use them.

If you've gotten down THIS far... Thanks so much to everyone that has tried any of the recipes I have posted. I started out thanking each person that left a review, but that proved to become too big a task, the more recipes that I posted. Anyway, thanks for stoppin' by!
