Reviewed German Potato Dumplings
"Easy and delicious. I would definitely attempt to make my dumplings smaller next time as these babies are HEAVY. Sauteed them with veggie butter and caramelized onions. YUM!"

Reviewed Soy Glazed Tofu and Asparagus
"I was looking for something really basic to do with a block of tofu and some sugar snap peas. That;s about all we had in the house. I found this and subbed the peas for asparagus, and had to oust the mushrooms. I really like it! I;ll be adding this to my paper cookbook as written with the knowledge that it;s very easily adaptable :) ..."

Reviewed Moist Chocolate Cupcakes- Super Easy- Budget
"Terrific cake recipe! We really wanted chocolate cake but had very little in the kitchen. I went looking for a recipe that used oil and found this one! And joy of joys it's already vegan! Didn't have to fuss with any subs! Already wrote this down in the book. Thanks bunches!"

Reviewed Lynnie the K's GREATEST Chocolate Icing
"I had to substiture crisco shortening for the butter here and it was still one of the BEST icings I've made. I'm a vegan so we never use real butter for anything anyway. In this case we were out of pretty much everything (includng vegan butter) And we really wanted cake! This whips up in a snap and I always have the stuff! YAY. Definite keeper."

Reviewed Grandma's Kolacky Cookies
"GREAT! My old recipe for kolachy was about 1/2 cream cheese. I'm a vegan now and needed something more easily adapted. Used Earth Balance vegan butter and tofutti sour cream. These worked out beautifuly! The dough is SUPER easy to work with (which is a sure tell sign that I'll make these again) I did add a little salt and about 1/4 cup powdered sug..."

Reviewed Big Grandma's Best Peanut Butter Cookies
"Really delicious cookies! I'm gonna try them again with chunky peanut butter as they weren't quite peanuty enough for me/as much as some others. I used an egg sub to keep mine vegan and they went off without a hitch. Probably the prettiest PB cookies I've ever seen easiest dough to work with!"

Reviewed Baked Cabbage Squares
"I'm always amazed at how the flavor of chickpea flour can change after cooking. I hate it out of the sack, and yet here (with minimal ingredients) it comes out tasting almost buttery! I had to try this when I saw it. It's just so oddball. And I didn't have much in the house, but I did have these ingredients. Added a few tbsp chopped onions, otherwi..."

Hi All!
Welcome to my page. The picture I have up is from when I visited Sleepy Hollow a few Halloweens back! It was taken on Washington Irving's back porch at his Sunnyside estate. Many people don't know that Irving actually resided in Sleepy Hollow, or that the tale of the Headless Horseman was a "real" local legend. As you can already tell I LOVE Halloween!
Most recent news. I'm married to a wonderful man who puts up with all my craziness! (and believe me, there's a lot of craziness)
I love to cook (obviously) Or I wouldn't be on Zaar! I could eat something new and different every night of the week, and very often we do. But sometimes you just need those homey "go to" recipes. Thanks to this site I have a few of those too ;)
I'm a vegetarian for 61/2 years about. I love it! I would never go back. I have now made the switch to vegan, and have never been more content with myself. Husband is still an omnivour, so we have the task of finding dishes that we both enjoy. I'm thankful he's very open minded!
My passions in life are definitely animals and the outdoors. I'm working toward getting my wildlife rehabilitation license right now, and would also like to work more with horses at some point soon. To work with both wild animals and horses would be nothing less then a true fairy tale for me.
I really live for changes and adventures (even if they are piddily, few and far between these days) I love traveling, learning new things and meeting new people.
I spend most of my free time in the summer wandering around the mountains, hiking, backpacking, camping, foraging for wild plants, swimming (I'm a water child, I will find water ANYWHERE), looking for old ruins (which there are plenty of here from the old rail lines and mines etc) Or hidden treasures (whether they be waterfalls, hidden paths or geocaches) I have an overactive imagination and can make pretty much anything into an epic journey. My friends would tell you I can take a 30 minute hike and turn it into a 3 hour escapade and they never know where the time goes, or what went wrong! lol What can I say? I'm part Fae or something lol

Favorite foods? That's rough since I like just about anything. Off the top of my head.
Muffins and Cupcakes
Veggie Sushi And Indian Food
Avocados
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
Peanut Butter
apples
maple candy
candied ginger
tomatoes
Foods I don't like -
asparagus (most of the time)
I'm A vegetarian 5 years this Halloween (2010) And I've had a lot of fun sort of relearning how to cook without meat, and discovering more and more wonderful foods that I never knew existed before. So I just love trying anything new!
A Big THANK YOU to all the other veggies on Zaar for posting their recipes and being there to answer questions when I've had them!! This site has definitely been a huge help to me!
As for dishes I'm known for -
Perogies (only one left in my family that makes them)
Salmon tartlets ( I don't eat them anymore but they're still an often request)
Ambrosia Fruit Salad (recipe posted on the site)
My friends would probably say what I'm really known for is my canning and campfire cooking.
I also love finding recipes with healthy mystery ingredients to feed to my picky eater friends (not known for that because they never find out lol)
