"Can I buy a decent one for under $100? My main interest is pureeing the winter squash I grow for freezing. Occasionally I use my counter top blender for pureeing tomato sauce from home grown tomatoes before straining. It's not all that efficient and is a bit of a mess at times."

"I'm interested in an immersion blender. I don't want to spend a lot on an appliance that I won't use all that often.
Mostly I puree cooked beets or butternut squash for light soups that I freeze at garden harvest time. I think this tool could save me some time when I'm sauce from my garden tomatoes for the freezer."
