I'm a pretty typical 23-year-old woman from Springfield, Va. I own a pet-care business and have lived with my boyfriend for over three years. We live in a small apartment with a tiny kitchen and no dishwasher, so I like pretty simple recipes, although I love to tackle more complicated ones in my older sister's big kitchen. =)
We have two dogs and no kids (yet), but we love spending time with our families, which means LOTS of family dinners, so I'm always on the prowl for yummy recipes! While we don't have kids, we have quite a few children in the family, so we love kid-friendly recipes (see next paragraph).
My boyfriend is quite a picky eater - not a fan of vegetables, he likes pizza (cheese only) and hamburgers (no toppings) and pasta (plain tomato sauce), he doesn't care for spicy food and usually crinkles his nose at a lot of herbs and spices. He's definitely not an adventurous eater, and I'm willing to try anything once, so... our meals are usually pretty boring for me - even when we go out, it's usually Italian or American. I got him to eat salmon a few times, but that was back when he was trying to impress me. Alas, I fear that I'm doomed to eat the same few meals over and over again for the rest of my life - am I in food Purgatory?
Thai and Mexican are my faves, but I'll try anything once.
Things I've tried and definitely DO NOT like: goat cheese (tastes like goat hair), horseradish (burns my nosehair) and tripe (chewy, tasteless and just plain gross). Yuck!
I often find myself craving a good steak or hamburger, so I don't think I'll be going vegetarian anytime soon. I also looooove soup! And I like experimenting with egg dishes (scrambles, hashes, souffles, frittatas) in the wee hours of the night - those are fun.
I like watching shows about food and chefs, but I wouldn't want to actually be a chef, simply because of the hours. My main goal is to be able to cook well for my family and to make others totally jealous of my mad cooking skills =)
