    About Me

I'm a happily married stay at home mom to two little girls and a big dog. My dh is a sous chef and we live and work on an organic dairy farm on the Southern Tier of New York State. It's beautiful here!

We discovered within the last year that most of us are gluten intolerant. This has made cooking jump from something I really enjoyed to something that's a newly ignited passion. It's very important to me that my children grow up with healthy eating habits and that they learn to enjoy a wide variety of well prepared foods. I feel the best way to ensure that is to keep the foods interesting and not get stuck in a rut, cooking the same things all the time. Recipes are a wonderful way of keeping those creative juices flowing! I love to look at recipes because even if I can't use them (so much of popular foods contain things we cannot eat) they serve as a fantastic springboard for my own concoctions in the kitchen. I'm looking forward to being part of this community.

    Favorite Foods

My all-time favorite thing to eat is definitely steak. I like it seared and cooked to medium rare. I'm very fond of rubs and I rarely put anything else on my steak. We are also very fond of salmon. We do eat a lot of beef, largely because we get quite a lot of it from our boss as a bonus to our pay. Typically, I have a freezer full of "organically raised" whole-cow ground beef. I like chicken, too, and we have that a lot. I really love to cook with fresh foods and it's very rare I use things like canned soups or vegetables. I also don't care much for frozen foods. We never eat prepared foods and I make almost everything from scratch.
