I`m originally from Ohio in the U.S. but married a fabulous girl here in Japan last year. We`re staying here while the daughters finish school. I work in a SOBA (buckwheat noodle) resturaunt and have enjoyed learning more and more about Japanese cooking.
I grew up working in a bakery in Ohio, and that has always been my favorite type of cooking. I have to say the bakeries here are wonderful. I enjoy a good doughnut as well as the next guy, but I`ve always hated those places where everything in the case comes from the fryer.
My favorite cookbooks are "Secrets of a Jewish baker" and "The BBQ Bible".
I love cooking, reading, and martial arts. The one thing that drives me crazy is "minute rice". I`d rather eat a styrofoam cup!
I love to bake breads, but my speacialty is different types of cheesecake. They`re so easy and so good!
Coming from the Toledo area it`s almost a sin not to say how much I miss Tony Packo`s or Charlie`s Diner. (Wow! Just saying that got my mouth watering) But I could also go for a trip to SCHLOTZKY`S for soup and a sandwich.
