Hunt Valley, MD
Hello. I have owned a five star restaurant as well as a wholesale meats and provisions company. My adrenaline is up when I am catering a party for two hundred or a family dinner for thirty seven. I am most familiar cooking Greek and Jewish specialties. Two items that I cannot do without in the kitchen are my extra sharp special knives and my cuisinart. It's fun for me to have a helper. This helper can help prep or just sit and chat with me. My best advice is to relax and have fun experimenting with receipes.
The dish that I most enjoy cooking would be lamb. I have cooked the entire lamb for Greek Easter on the spit. Remember to start very early in the morning.
My husband would tell you that my french toast is the best that he has ever tasted.
My favorite restaurant, I could tell you that it is The Oregon Grill. The OG does have a way with food and wine ...but. My favorite restaurant is in Crete on the way to Chania. On a warm summer day driving the switchback roads to Chania the bright blue sky without a cloud overhead you spot it....a white sandy beach without a person in sight, a small shack with a blue and white stripe awning tattered from the wind, the colorful small wooden fishing boat just off the shore bobbing in the small waves. We drive down to the beach. A woman greets us then shows me the fresh catch of the day. Her husband's boat is the one bobbing offshore. She then prepares the grilled whole fish on the bar-b-que, accompanied by a large Greek salad, potato soup and french fries. As a special treat she brings out warm Greek desserts. Swimming on the private calm beach and savoring this lunch, with family was truly my finest.
