    About Me

I love to cook.  I love to read.  I love learning about different cultures and other parts of the world.  Reading cookbooks and recipes from anywhere is an EASY way for me to pass an afternoon (or more).  My 3 sons all inherited my love of reading and 2 of them are pretty handy in the kitchen, too.  Child #4-- a special needs daughter-- is the one I can count on to try anything new, so she keeps me smiling when the rest of our household hasn't responded quite so positively to my adventures in cooking!

    Favorite Foods

How can I choose?!?!?  That's like choosing your favorite child!  My family always requests my Bacon Fried Rice or Creamy Chicken Enchiladas.  I've been on a Korean food kick lately, making homemade Kimchi, Chigae, Bulgogi and Kimbap.  When eating out, I often take advantage of the great taco shop within walking distance down the street... this is Southern California, after all.  Seafood at the harbor is another great option.  This awesome locale also means I can grill pretty much year 'round, which I love because all meats taste better off the grill.  If I'm not grilling, I'm probably stir-frying-- it's easy and healthy.  Despite spending most of our lives in the Western US, we were lucky enough to live in the South (Waxhaw, NC) for almost 5 years; there I developed a real love for vinegar-y cole slaw, stewed okra & tomatoes and Western NC barbeque (best from a little hole in the wall spot in Monroe).  I really do love food and the experience of a shared meal with family and friends!
