Shared Recipe Vegetarian French Onion Soup

"My MIL keeps Kosher but didn't grow up that way - one of her favorite food memories from childhood was having french onion soup with her grandmother on Sundays in downtown St. Louis. I came up with this recipe to help her capture a childhood memory, in the process it has become a family favorite. Enjoy!"

    Reviewed Texas Chili

"My husband hates beans and when I found this recipe I thought I'd take a chance -- I'm really glad that I did! I did have to substitute turkey pepperoni and turkey Italian sausage for the chorizo because we don't eat pork but this is an excellent recipe and great flavor! Awesome over hotdogs and freezes well."

    About Me

My name is Helen and I found the love of my life on the internet of all places. At the time I didn't realize he was a nice Jewish boy (raised Kosher) but I count my blessings on a daily basis. Being raised Catholic and non-Kosher, I have been going through a great period of adjustment. I'm currently going through conversion here in South Carolina while my husband pursues a career in the Air Force. With that being said, I'm facing the challenges of keeping a Kosher kitchen from one state/continent to the next and let me tell you, its been an experience :) I'm becoming quite adept at vegetarian cooking (where there's a lack of available meat) as well as recipe modifications to make "local" favorites Kosher-friendly for my family and friends.

    Favorite Foods

I like cooking just about anything, but my husband Sam swears my potato soup is the best thing I make. I would post it but there are already 3 billion potato soup recipes, SO if anyone is intersted they'll just have ask and I'll post it :)
