    About Me

I am not a creative, per se, cook but consider the kitchen "my lab" anyway. A full time hairdresser, I use my crock pots and roaster ovens alot. Love to read cookbooks and I need to quit buying them! I finally took the time to go through each one and note recipes that interested me. My list is lengthy, so it'll take a couple of years to make all the recipes. lol! I wish I had a "passion". In my younger adult years, I played softball for years with the Women Marines, and also on dependent teams in Hawaii and it WAS my passion. So I remember what it feels like to have a passion, but...
The first pet peeve that comes to mind (I guess 'cause I spend too much time at the store)is lazy people who empty their shopping carts and then leave them in the middle of the parking lot rather than walk them to the designated area. These people are usually overweight and could use the extra steps it'd take to do the right thing. Aside from the fact that it's discourteous, it's also hazardous. The wind gusts frequently here and it doesn't take much to send the abandoned carts zooming down the parking lot, possibly coming to a violent stop against someone's car. Well, enough on that; it's obvious that I'm at least passionate about my peeve, huh. sigh...

    Favorite Foods

I like down home cooking; no fancy stuff. My first recipe from this website was the copycat for Pizza Hut Crust. I discarded my other crust recipes and use only it now. I'd have to check, but I think I also got "Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes" from here too. Love it! The point is, I really like Recipe Zaar's site. I wish I had more time to "play" on it, but enjoy the time that I can browse here. Our favorite restaurant is The Outback. Everytime I take something to work for potluck, I take a "Southwest Corn Casserole". I wouldn't say I'm "famous" for it, but they always know what I'm bringing. The first time I took it, I shared the recipe with the many who requested it with the stipulation that they not make it for potluck as that it is mine alone for that ('cause it's fast and easy). I like to bake, but I have a diabetic son, so I'm experimenting with low carb/Splenda dessert recipes.
