New Topic Claytonia in Gardening, Herbs, Spices and More

"Has anyone tried growing Claytonia? I was wondering what it tastes like. I don't like really bitter greens. I'm looking for something a little mild in taste but easy to grow and really nutritious."

New Topic frozen onion stench in Canning, Preserving and Dehydrating

"I was given HUGE bag of onions that were getting ready to go bad. I saved some to plant, gave some away and kept as many fresh as I could. I ended up freezing a lot of it. I put them into ziploc freezer baggies, double bagged them and I still have onion stench. What can I do to neutralize the odor?"

New Topic Weight Watchers Ratatioulle Recipe in Recipe Requests - General

"I used to have a weight watchers cookbook that had a great ratatioulle recipe in it. I think the book was from the mid 80's, but I can't find it anywhere. I want to make ratatouille in the worst way."

New Topic restaurant blues in Recipe Requests - General

"I've got lots of 'stuff' in my freezer and cabinets, but I'm craving fast food/restaurant food something crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions? I made 'diner food' last night with pork steak, mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy with butter beans."

    About Me

I live in the Home of Sliced Bread. My little town in Missouri is where the first loaf of bread was sliced by machine, many years ago.

My favorite cookbook is recipezaar. I used to collect cookbooks, but I've given away all but my most cherished ones which belonged to my Grandma. I shop at an Amish community for my dry goods as much as possible. Right now, I'm in a canning phase and I probably will be until I'm too old to cut the mustard.

    Favorite Foods

Chocolate is still tops in my book, and anything that I've canned myself.  If I'm famous for anything, it's my ability to cook without a recipe, and to find bargains at the grocery store. I love Double coupons and Wal Mart price match.
