My new year's resolution was to make as much food from scratch that I possibly could for my family.

I grew up at Misawa AFB in Japan and remember the AMAZING food that we would get during all the festivals there (man, the people there knew how to throw a party! It was breathtaking!) so, I guess that cooking, food, and good times are defining points of the good life for me. I could be totally broke (and have been many a time!) but still be happy as a clam as long as I could make a good homemade chicken pot pie for my kids! Everything else - just doesn't matter if we're all fed and happy.
My favorite dishes to cook are the ones that my kids hork down and come back for seconds within seconds! Tonkatsu is a household favorite! An old fashioned plate of steak and fries are also popular.
I have too many favorite restaraunts to name, but I am huge fan of the mom and pop's restaraunts that populate our small town.
