    About Me

I've always liked cooking and it is so much more enjoyable now that I've gone back to meal planning. It was too hard trying to think up dinner when I was tired and the kids were crying. We definately save a lot of money this way, too. Combined with using cash at the grocery store instead of cards, we've pretty much cut our grocery bills in half! - and still buy mostly organic produce and some treats - what does that say about how we were spending before!
My nearly three year old loves to cook with me and has been helping in the kitchen since he was around 20 months; now his 18 month old brother needs a turn pouring and stirring! So we have a lot of fun trying stuff out together (when I'm not in a hurry!).
While I love to bake and eat sweets, we mostly try to eat very healthy. And while none of us has anything life-threatening, we do all have food alergies/intolerances that change the way we eat. My oldest, for instance, cannot do beans or we'll all be up all night. Thank God we finally figured that out. Beans were a staple in the family.
We do a lot of spelt flour and goat or hemp milk, rice pasta, substitute olive oil for butter, etc.
And for Lent this year, in light of a sugar binge where I made dessert nearly every night, we went entirely sugar free. No sugar (and no subs except fruit or fruit juices) in our tortillas, our bread, our cereal. It was really eye opening and fun to find new ways of cooking.

    Favorite Foods

Truly, I love pizza. Bread, sauce, cheese... I love the stuff. It is my weakness.
Also cinnamon rolls. I made a batch for the wrestling team my husband coaches last year and then it snowed and there was no school for the next five days. We gave a lot away, but um... I think I will forever want cinnamon rolls when it's snowing now :)
