About to embark on an extended adventure, cruising the UK's 2000 mile canal network on our 57ft narrowboat. I am looking forward to blogging the journey - to share the highpoints of the cruise, the nature/wildlife we encounter, pubs we stop at (and there are lots of those along the canals!) and my attempts to get great food out of the tiny galley using local produce we find on the way.
I don't have a favourite cookbook but use the web for inspiration and new recipes (love Zaar!) My favourite food /recipe columnist is Nigel Slater in the Guardian & the Observer and I truly enjoy and have total respect for the 'grow/produce/gather then cook' ethics, flavours and style of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall ala River Cottage.
No real true favourite food, nothing I would walk across hot coals for anyway. I like variety, couldn't bear to make/eat the same thing day in, day out. Try to be seasonal and healthy as possible with enough small treats/indulgences to keep happy!
I like to bake and am known for making a fine classic baked cheescake, blueberry muffins and countless kinds of biscuits (cookies).
Our favourite meal to eat out is a relaxed weekend breakfast and my favourite for this is Italia Uno for lush scrambled eggs with Parma ham & Italian salamis and the best caffe latte in London.
