My husband and I have relocated with our 3 children to Shreveport from New Orleans after Katrina. One of the things we miss the most about home is the food!! It does help that Eric is a wonderful cook and really enjoys it. I am pretty good myself, but my favorite part is the actual taste-testing!! Our oldest son has had some food allergies in the past and our middle one is pretty picky, so we can be really creative in the kitchen!
I'm not sure there is enough room for all of my favorites... As a kid I always picked green beans, cottage ham, and new potatoes for my birthday dinner. Of course, it was served with corn on the cob, fresh tomatoes from the garden, and corn bread. I still love this dinner. Seafood ranks high on my list--give me crab anything! I love crawfish bread (mmmm, cheesy heaven!), boudin, gumbo, you name it. My favorite salad is sliced tomatoes topped with buffala mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and fresh ground pepper. So simple, but so yummy! I love pizzas and experimenting with sauces and toppings. One of our favorite dinners is "make your own pizza night." The kids get a big kick out of it and get a well balanced meal in the process after they top it with plenty of vegees! I am willing to try anything once, but i do tend to prefer carbs, meat, and desserts! Oh well, you only live once, right?
