So I've been a member for a while now (can't remember when I joined) and used Recipezaar for years before then. I'd love to know who Mean Chef was and why they left.
I was born and raised in FL and consider myself priveleged to have been raised by my mom. We lived at the end of a dirt road with a horse (an appaloosa named Lucky) and countless cats and dogs. Most people seem to think dirt road = great place to dump unwanted animals. So get your animals spayed and neutered!!! Our neighbors had horses, cows, pigs, chickens, honeybees and orange groves. Everytime I go home to visit now, there's a new subdivision where I used to walk, bike or ride my horse so it makes me a little sad.
My husband and I got married young and started a family even earlier than that. Our daughter turned 12 last month and is taller than me now. We've been living in Bergen County in North Jersey for almost 10 years, since this is where my husband's family is. We both work for rival car companies so depending on who you talk to the other works for the darkside.
I'm not the greatest cook in the world but I love this site because I can look through all these recipes and imagine my roasts will be juicy, chicken will be flavorful and deserts will be good enough people will ask me for the recipe.
I wish I could say I loved only healthy, pure, organic food and that I was slim, trim and racy, but I don't and I'm not. I love just about anything but especially buttered, battered, fried, sweet or generally bad for me stuff. Don't get me wrong, I love fresh veggies and loads of healthy stuff too. I just wish I loved the bad stuff less.
