I love food of all kinds, from gourmet to greasy spoon. I do a fair amount of gardening, most years, so a lot of what I make is based on what's in season. Local matters more to me than organic, ethical matters more to me than inexpensive.
Years of eating a "traditional" American diet has gotten me fat. This is a motivator for home cooking, along with my desires to eat less meat and spend less money.
Although I'm not vegetarian, I love to cook vegetable dishes. I enjoy ethnic foods: Indian, Mexican, and Middle Eastern.
My most requested dishes are a cranberry-apple pie and my "company" hash browns.
