I'm just a Midwestern girl who digs food. I live by myself, just me and my little dog, so I do a lot of cooking for one - or for two and trying to figure out what to do with all my leftovers.
I'm just starting to explore once a month cooking. I'm sure OAMC for one sounds ridiculous to the people who lead truly jam-packed lifestyles full of work and children and spouses and who knows what else, but I have my own large handful of things to juggle. Usually when I have the time to cook, I don't have the energy, or when I have the energy to cook, I lack the time - so I'm starting to look at OAMC (and using a crockpot!) as a way to save myself from looking at processed, packaged foods as my only option when I'm too busy or too tired. So far I've just tried "dump" recipes but it's gone well to this point!
Canning is my other new adventure I'm going to try this fall. My main goal is canning persimmon pulp so I can make persimmon pudding throughout the year, but I have some other things I hope to try too!
I have an obsession with Chinese food, but I also love comfort foods. Hearty meals are where it's at... anything else might as well be called a snack. I mainly eat chicken, though I'll eat some cuts of pork and of course sausage. I love baking, especially around the holidays, but being that it's just me, I end up inflicting my baking on all of my co-workers lest I end up fat by eating all the delicious baked goods myself.
