I used butter (1/2 light butter and 1/2 non-fat butter spread in place of the shortening and Splenda in place of the sugars (added 1/4 c. maple syrup to make brown sugar, to cut back on calories. "These are so great! I went through tons of KRispy Kreme glazed mini-crullers when I was pregnant with my son, and these taste so much like them. Thanks for sharing such a great recipe.
