    My Journal

    Reviewed Microwave Chocolate Mug Brownie

"A perfect bite of chocolate in the evening given I;m only cooking for me most nights. And I like it almost exactly as the recipe says (I don;t have dairy butter in my kitchen, just a vegan substitute). Lovely, gooey, fudgey-ness... Started testing some of the reviewers variations, and I definitely prefer the base recipe."

Reviewed Buddha's Happy Belly: Curried Lentils, Cauliflower and Tomatoes

"Really liked the basic combination, except that I also found it on the bland side, despite adding around double the curry powder. Next time I'll try quadruple, but there'll definitely be a next time. (My dinner companion had some sort of Mexican hot sauce, and a couple drops of that made it really good.)"

    About Me

I was born in England and grew up in the USA. I would say I definitely turned out a blend of at least those two cultures.

I'm a long-term undergrad studying psychology. I nearly switched to cooking school a couple years ago, but I honestly don't think I have the ambition to push myself forward in a commercial kitchen. I find myself quite happy making dinner several times a week for a small group of good friends (and they keep coming back for more, so I must be doing something right). I do have a slight addiction to the cookbooks at the checkout line... I've bought dozens and they're full of notes on how to improve the recipes.

I also enjoy writing and an assortment of forms of artistic expression (painting, sculpting, sewing, etc). My current artistic obsession is doll collecting/customizing.

    Favorite Foods

Not sure I have a favourite. Fish (except tuna) and meat pies of nearly any sort are probably my biggest draws, but I also love curry and stir fry.

I do love bread but am rather hopeless at making it... my hands are very cold so I don't do well with yeast.

I am allergic to cherries, but I can't taste cherry so it's no loss. I've only recently reached a troublesome level of lactose intolerance, so I really miss ice cream and cheesecake. And I love finding lactose free alternatives for things.
