A "born-again cook" at age 50. My mom didn't require me to help in the kitchen. I'm sure she thought this was a kindness, but it wasn't, really. Current favorite cookbooks are the _Monday to Friday_ series, _How to Cook Everything: The Basics_, and _Help! My Apartment Has a Kitchen!_.
Favorite dishes to cook are anything that uses the toaster oven, microwave, or slow cooker, and preferably no more than 5 ingredients. I'm "famous" for a chocolatey thing that I learned from my ex-stepmother-in-law: it's made with chocolate cake mix, chocolate pudding mix (not the instant kind - the kind made with milk on the stovetop), and chocolate chips. Favorite "everyday" restaurant is Swiss Chalet (a Canadian chain known for its wonderful rotisserie chicken and fabulous fries). Favorite "special occasion" restaurant is Movenpick Marche.
