I have enjoyed cooking and baking for many decades. I started when I was in elementary school and a hurricane knocked all my neighbor's apples on the ground. Mesky, as we called her, suggested that my friend and I gather as many apples as we promised to cook into applesauce under her tutelage. Imagine my mom's surprise upon returning home from work to discover that every pot and pan she owned was full of homemade applesauce! All of our neighbors became the joyful benefactors of our culinary efforts that day.
In high school, I would often invite my best friend to join me in an all-night bake fest. My five siblings would awake to an extravaganza of cupcakes or muffins.
After I married, my children would help me bake 50 dozen or more Christmas cookies to share with friends and neighbors throughout the holiday season. Of course, each of my three children always had cupcakes to take to school on their birthdays.
As a senior, I enjoy teaching my grandchildren how to cook bagel pizzas or applesauce; and we love baking pumpkin custard and cupcakes and cookies galore! And, I continue to make new recipes that I find on recipezaar/food.com.
